Dutch East India Company office
In 1676, the Hoorn Chamber of the Dutch East India Company bought this town house on Muntstraat to serve as an office. Previous to this, the Dutch East India Company was based in the former Geerten monastery (Geertenklooster) on Nieuwstraat. The house was enlarged to the left with an extension which accommodated the meeting room for the company directors. This section is crowned by a triangular pediment containing the monogram of the Hoorn Dutch East India Company.
